Nara Winston Bethancourt is a Dominican-American visual artist (1998) who grew up in several countries in Latin American, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Asia. In 2010, she returned with her family to her mother’s native country, the Dominican Republic. She is very influenced by her experiences with Dominican culture having spent her adolescence there.
She is currently exploring the dynamics of the resort culture and the reality behind the images, advertisement and marketing of "paradise" as an export commodity targeting North America and Europe. She is also interested in how these social constructs and trappings are prevalent in the everyday life of the society.
After graduating from the Chavon School of Design in the Dominican Republic (2018), she moved to the Netherlands and am continuing my studies in The Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
